How Guardian Works

What is a VPN?

A Virtual Private Network is a service that can encrypt and mask anything that you do while using the Internet.

Sending your internet data through a VPN server will conceal your true IP address, making it more difficult for websites and marketing companies to track your activity across websites and apps on the internet.

What is a Firewall?

A firewall is a type of security software that is installed on a network in order to protect the electronic devices of connected users.

Such software can block unauthorized access to your personal data by monitoring and controlling incoming/outgoing flows of data, based on a set of rules.

What is Unique about Guardian Firewall?

The Guardian Firewall app has been designed to act as a client for remotely hosted VPN servers running Guardian's fully-featured firewall software with a custom API, which the client device can use to generate pseudonymous access credentials, pull in alerts for recently detected/blocked traffic, and check for physically proximate VPN servers.

We took a different approach with Guardian Firewall, ensuring little to no impact on device battery, using a design which also allows easy portability to other platforms and is future-proof from any changes in OS updates.

Due to the nature of our software design, it is important for you to understand that this process involves sending your internet data through our secure firewall servers. In order to mitigate any privacy concerns associated with handling personal internet data, we have taken extraordinary efforts to minimize any retained data which could be attributable to your identity.

We also do not automatically collect any data without explicit consent. Guardian Firewall is designed with no sign-up process, and no information entry about yourself whatsoever.

The only information we need to know is if you have sent us a payment for your subscription. In order to validate payment without using information about you, we are able to check a "digital receipt" which is generated on your device when you make an in-app purchase. This receipt lets Guardian know which product or subscription you've purchased. This means Guardian Firewall has no need to ask for any personal information or keep any kind of record about you at all.

Whether you’re extremely technical or barely feel comfortable holding a phone, we feel confident that Guardian provides a sophisticated solution with a simple design that works for everyone.
